At the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce, our vision is to create a thriving black business community statewide. We aim to achieve this by fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth among Illinois Black businesses.
There are currently 1.2 million small businesses in Illinois, 152, 706 are owned by people of color. This accounts for 12.7 percent of small businesses. (Rachel Nunes/Patch). Of this number, we estimate that only 1.2 percent of these businesses are owned by African Americans. At Ilinois Black Chamber of Commerce, we aim to grow black-owned businesses to 60% by 2050. We will increase economic opportunities through ownership in predominantly black communities throughout the State of Illinois impacting families and increasing generational wealth. We will work with communities to de-escalate and decrease violence across the state. We will generate policy and work with legislators to enact their visions to enhance black communities and black-owned businesses economically.
We are conducting our own research and study of black-owned businesses in Illinois. Please take the survey below for a chance to WIN A GIFT for your business. (COMING SOON)
